This advertisement is trying to get you to drink Gatorade over water because it claims to have all the vitamins and quenches thirst more than water itself. This advertisement can be logos because it is stating facts about the product and how good it is. It's talking about how it has carbohydrates and electrolytes to keep you active. It can also be ethos because this will make you think about whether you want to drink Gatorade or water the next time you exercise. For all we know it could be better than water at keeping you active. You might not ever actually know which one is better but based on the facts given you'd assume that Gatorade is better for when you exercise.

Julian this is a well chosen article, which to me shows a great marketing strategy involving the comparison of two different brands or items explaining why one is better or worse. This used by many companies, but in this occasion it is Gatorade. This color scheme chosen really helps to expand the idea written in the bold text. Keeping the Gatorade yellow and and making the background grey makes the Gatorade stand out in this ad. Another thing that I thought was well used was the three short but meaningful statement's/phrases Gatorade used, " WATER HAS NO CARBS"," WATER HAS NO ELECTROLYTES", and "WATER HAS NO GAME". Those three phrases really help get their point across. Once again Julian this is a well chosen AD.
ReplyDeleteWWW: You used good arguments toward the Gatorade ad. Saying that "You might not ever actually know which one is better but based on the facts given you'd assume that Gatorade is better for when you exercise." This shows two second side of the story. The water advocates, saying that the facts do not give much detail about Gatorade's advantage over water.
ReplyDeleteEBI: The AD doesn't claim that Gatorade has all the vitamins and quenches your thirst more than water. So I don't think you should say that.
